Toyokawa IPS Workshop (October 30-31, 2007)

In association with the International Heliophysical Year 2007 and the International CAWSES Symposium (see http://www.stelab.nagoya-u.ac.jp/cawses/) to be held in Kyoto, Japan on October 23-27, we announce an Interplanetary Scintillation (IPS) Workshop to be held in Toyokawa, Japan, October 30-31, 2007.The purpose of the workshop will be: (1) to compare available worldwide IPS observations, Solar Mass Ejection Imager (SMEI), and Ulysses spacecraft data sets following the Ulysses close pass of the Sun in August 2007, and data sets from SOHO-Sun-Ulysses quadratures in winter 2006/7 and spring 2007; (2) an attempt to standardize the IPS data sets compared; and (3) future collaborations. Workshop discussions will include but are not be limited to: IPS, Thomson Scattering and Faraday rotation analyses, and heliospheric structure comparisons.

IPS Workshop organizers have applied for workshop participant travel and subsistence funds from their respective governments. However we have not yet been informed about the results of these applications. Therefore, IPS Workshop participants are encouraged to attend the earlier International CAWSES Symposium and apply for financial support from the CAWSES Symposium. Abstracts and financial support applications for the CAWSES Symposium are due May 31, 2007.
